The Malaysian Standard MS 1489-1:2023 specifies the requirements for the installation of fire hose reels. The standard states that the height of the hose loop from the floor level shall be not less than 1700 mm (1.7 metre) and not more than 900 mm (0.8 metre). This is to ensure that the hose loop is accessible for use by firefighters, but is also high enough to prevent it from being damaged by foot traffic.
MS 1489-1 :2023 has also set the height of the inlet valve and hose guide not to exceed 900mm from floor level. Please refer to the illustration of a typical arrangement of hose loops as Figure 1 in Appendix A.
